Photoaging

Photoaging is skin aging caused by repeated exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light, which causes wrinkles, dark spots, roughness and loss of elasticity.

What it means

UV light damages collagen and elastin and triggers chronic inflammation. It drives most visible aging on sun-exposed areas, and it differs from intrinsic aging, which follows genetics and time.

Daily broad-spectrum sunscreen is the most studied way to prevent photoaging.
