Meta-analysis

A meta-analysis combines the numerical results of several studies into one pooled estimate.

Last updated

What it means

Pooling gives more statistical power than any single trial, but it cannot correct bias in the studies it includes. A meta-analysis of small, inconsistent trials can produce a precise-looking number that means little.

Check how much the studies disagree (heterogeneity) and whether publication bias was tested.
