Confidence interval

A confidence interval is a range that is likely to contain the true size of an effect, given the data and the size of the study.

What it means

A 95 percent confidence interval means that, over many repeated studies, about 95 percent of such ranges would contain the true value.

Wide intervals signal uncertainty, often from small samples. If the interval includes no effect at all, the result is not statistically significant at that level.
