Telomere

Telomeres are protective caps of repeated DNA at the ends of chromosomes, and they shorten each time a cell divides.

What it means

Short telomeres are linked to cell aging and are studied as a marker of biological age. Telomere length is a marker, not a verdict on health.

Some supplements claim to lengthen telomeres. The evidence in people is limited, and our longevity pages grade it for each product.
